Family on the Dock / Auburndale Family Photographer

14 Nov

Here is a sneak peek of a fun family session of four beautiful children. The shoot took place at their home, which just happens to be right on a lake. Their dock and the sunset made the perfect setting for beautiful family photos. More photos will be posted on Facebook later today, but for now enjoy this cute image of their silliness.

The Middle Child / Lakeland Family Photographer

Aaahhh. The middle child. Often the child who happens to be born in the middle of the family is the most amiable, the peace-maker, and the one often left out. Not in the “L” family! Their middle child makes himself known! I photographed the family in January of last year before their youngest was born and we snapped this cute picture, completely unplanned and un-posed.

And now, nine months later, this little guy is no different. He made his presence known again as we photographed his family during their Holiday Mini-Shoot at Circle B Bar Reserve. Without prompting, he walked away from the family and sat by me, ready to have his photo taken. This guy knows how to not be forgotten among his siblings! And it makes for a cute repeat photo for the family.

Kiss Interrupted / Lakeland Family Photographer

Sometimes the perfect shot can be interrupted.  While photographing a family, I always take pictures of just the husband and wife. Too often, parents can forget that they were a married couple first when the demands of diapers and school lines take over their day to day lives. During my photo shoots, we take a brief moment among the pictures of the family and the kids, to take a picture of the people who started the family: the husband and wife! Sometimes this shift of focus takes the kids by surprise and funny things can happen.

While doing my Holiday Mini-Shoots at Circle B Bar Reserve, the last family I was photographing had one of those unexpected moments. Here are a couple of the beautiful shot we captured of the husband and wife as the kids “helped” me make their parents smile.

They turned out so well! I was excited about how well the girls were doing and the wonderful shots I knew I had captured for my client. And then I suggested the parents kiss and chaos began. The oldest child yelled, “NOOOOOOOO!!!” and ran straight for her parents, interrupting any further photos I planned on taking. It was hilarious! Then both of the girls started trying to attach me and the camera to stop any further picture taking of their parents kissing. I was laughing so hard!!! This is what I captured and thought you all would get a kick out of it. I just love my job!

This year I did mini-shoots to raise money for World Vision. Read all about it here.  On the first day of our mini-shoots, we photographed in downtown Lakeland. All three families were so wonderful to work with as we dodged the crowds enjoying the car show. We snuck into an alley behind Black and Brew and photographed all of them there because there weren’t any antique cars to see in the alley way, thus there were no crowds there.  It was very busy downtown! The alley I usually photograph in was occupied with a film crew for a short film. It was a fun challenge to photograph around people on this busy weekend in Lakeland.

Here is a preview of their images.

Four Kids in the Family / Lakeland Childrens Photographer

While we are gearing up for our Holiday Mini-Sessions here at K. Barber Photography (if you missed that post, be sure to check out the great deals by clicking here), I thought I would show you this precious picture from my shoot this Sunday at Hollis Gardens. Isn’t this stair-step picture of them adorable? The little lady up front is blessed to have three older brothers to watch out of her in the future.

I am headed out this Labor day weekend to photograph a wedding in Pennsylvania. It should be a wonderful trip, so I will go ahead and tell you all to have a fabulous weekend!

New Business Cards / Lakeland Photographer

12 Apr

I have just used up my last business cards this month and am ready to go a little fancier. This what what my old business card looked like:

This is fine. Clean. Professional. Informational. But I want my business card to show my work. If my images are already on the card, that allows people who see them without taking the extra step of going to my website. Hopefully this will leave them wanting to see more images and they will hop right on the computer and see more!  So, here is the front of my new, improved business card:

I still need to make some more promotional pamphlets and fliers, but this is a good start. One day I hope my business will be large enough to hire a professional to design all of my business needs. Until then, I have me and my husband. We make a pretty good design team and that makes it all worth it!
